Oyster Roast in the Oven

My girlfriend, Taylore, and I were over at Carrie and Jeff’s house last night for dinner.  Jeff had found some beautiful single oysters in Bull’s Bay when he was oystering earlier in the day.  Carrie made some stuffed oysters, and then baked the rest in the oven, which is one of the simplest ways to cook oysters, and one of my favorites.  Your list of requirements is short:

  • bull’s bay oysters
  • cake pan
  • oven

All you do is set the oven at 425, put the oysters one layer deep in the cookie pan, and put ‘em in the oven.  The only tricky part is how long to cook them.  Generally you will check them in 7 minutes or so, and continue to do so until the shells pop open.  I, however, like them just before the shell pops open when they’re still juicy.  Some people like to cook the snot out of them.  Personal preference…  Enjoy!

Hahahaha – “cook the snot out of them”

I like ‘em snotty – it’s the best way to eat ‘em.

But Betsy would say ’snot

I guess we’ll have to do it both ways cuando venimos al gran fandango.
